Caravan Decaf Espresso
Finca el Bosque, Guatemala (Fully washed)
Very smooth full bodied cup with cocoa sweetness and refined acidity. A decaf version of a Caravan favourite.
Finca el Bosque is a well established and respected farm within the speciality coffee industry. The Flores family have been farming the 14 acre plot since the early 1930's, growing primarily Bourbon. More recently the addition of a processing facility on site means that the coffee no longer needs to be transported as a cherry to off site washing stations. This move has greatly improved the overall quality of the coffee produced. Having already had this coffee in our roastery last year as part of our espresso we are really pleased to be roasting it again in its decaffeinated form.
Caravan Espresso
Market Blend
Gisuma, Rwanda (Fully Washed)
Finca la Copalita, Mexico (Fully Washed)
Light to medium roast. Dark chocolate and vibrant red cherry fruit notes with a heightened acidity as espresso. With milk expect a fully creamy chocolate cup and a subtle sweetness.
Our current espresso blend is created with two fresh crop arrivals to our roastery. We decided on a 50:50 ratio, as with previous blends, to allow both coffees to sit beside each other and bring out the best of both. The La Copalita from Pluma Hidalgo in the southern state of Oaxaca in Mexico provides a full chocolate body and interesting aniseed sweetness, an ideal and harmonious base for our fruity juice driven Rwandan Gisuma to work with. This versatile espresso works equially well either as a straight shot or paired with milk. Alternatively, we have found that it can be used as a creamy satisfying filter option for those who like a solid medium roast and a little milk in their filter coffee.
El Salvador - Finca el Retiro
Central America
| Farm: | Finca el Retiro, Santa Ana |
| Region: | Apaneca Ilamatepec Mountains |
| Varietal: | Red Bourbon |
| Processing: | Fully washed |
Clean cup with a juicy body and notes of orange. As espresso expect a full sweet body with notes of cranberry.
The farm’s 100% Bourbon coffee is hand-picked when perfectly ripe, fully washed and dried in the sun. The coffee grows under a protective canopy of shade, made up of indigenous tree varieties such as the leguminous balsam and ingas. Both of these trees are chosen for their heavy leaf fall, which provides a rich natural mulch. El Retiro was a finalist at the Cup of Excellence in 2006 and continues to produce fantastic coffee.
